The Intrepid Traveler

See me sitting on this corner
Watching your traffic passing by,
You see me as a foreigner,
But as you walk I catch your twinkling eye.
A gaze held for a moment,
That spans a lifetime,
The lines of our lives are bent,
I see yours and you see mine.
You know me for who I am,
A traveler on this long, long road,
I watch the follies of man,
And can do nothing, for I shoulder my own load.
I'm speeding down this path called life,
While the scenery flashes by,
Soaking up the pain and strife,
I feel it when you die.
